NEC Merit Scholarship 2024-25

NEC Merit Scholarship, which aims to support meritorious students from the North Eastern Region in pursuing higher education.

Selection for the scholarship is based purely on merit. Applications are verified at both the institute and state levels. For M.Phil. and Ph.D. candidates, the relevance of their research topic to the Northeastern Region is also considered. The scholarship funds are deposited directly into the bank accounts of the eligible students. Students need to maintain their academic performance to renew the scholarship annually throughout their course.

Eligibility Criteria

  • The applicant must be an Indian citizen.
  • The applicant must permanently reside in one of the following Northeastern states: Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, or Tripura.
  • The applicant must have secured a minimum of 60% marks or above in the relevant qualifying examination.
  • The applicant’s annual family income from all sources should be less than ₹8,00,000.
  • The applicant must have taken admission in a diploma, degree, postgraduate course, or be registered for an M.Phil. or Ph.D. program in a recognized Indian institution.

Renewal of NEC Merit Scholarship 2024-25

Renewal Eligibility
  • Students must pass their exams or be promoted to the next academic year without any pending backlog papers.
  • If a student changes their subject or institution, they are not eligible for renewal.
  • A break in receiving the scholarship makes the student ineligible for further renewal.
  • In case of medical reasons, renewal may be considered if proper medical documents are provided

Students Who Are Not Eligible for NEC Merit Scholarship 2024-25 scheme

Under the NEC Merit Scholarship 2024-25 scheme, the following students are ineligible:

  • Recipients of scholarships from other schemes for the same course.
  • Applicants admitted through management quota.
